This Video will provide some brief detail about the largest RTX 3090 Ti on the market, the ZOTAC AMP HOLO EXTREME, coming in at a heavy hitting 3.5-slot design and a lengthy 356mm, Not Too Unlike Some of the RTX 4090 Cards!
Join me on this journey as we explore if this 450W POWER Hungry GPU, and similar oversized GPUs, can fit in the HP Z840 Workstation. The Z840 comes with a 1450W PSU that can support decent GPU Power through its 3x 6-Pin RAILs that net a sum of 550W of POWER, well within the scope of the Z840's powerful 90% efficiency PSU.
The RTX 4090 might work, but only if you get a low-spec model with 3x 8-Pin-to-12-Pin Power requirements. (so no you can't fit the ZOTAC RTX 4090 AMP Extreme AIRO which needs 4x 8-pin to 12VHPWR Power). The RX 7900 XTX should work pending GPU Size.
The Z840 can fit a MAX GPU length of 356mm, but up to ~359mm if the card height is less than the Zotac's 149.86mm (5.9 Inches) in height. To UNLOCK this added Clearance, the HP Z840's HDD Fan Module does need to be removed. An Issue that NOCTUA Could Solve with Two Simple Additions.
After Fitment, the ZOTAC AMP HOLO EXTREME RTX 3090 Ti underwent several stress-tests. The HWiNFO DATA Can Be Seen for this GPU, and the ASUS ROG RTX 3080 12GB STRIX OC GPU. Can the RTX 3090 Ti fitted in the HP Z840 Workstation (with dual Intel Xeon e5-2697 V3 CPUs and DDR4 2133MHz ECC RAM) actually play modern titles like Cyberpunk 2077 or Forza Horizon 5 at 4k 60FPS??? We Shall See!!!
