Unlocking the Secrets of ‘Invisible’ Animals
Have you seen transparent animals? Sure, there are plenty that are translucent – allowing light to shine through pieces of their bodies – but I’m talking true transparency, like glass. There are only a few that thrive on land and an absurd number of them in the oceans. A recent study looked at how and why this phenomenon in occurs in butterflies and it helps explain what makes it so great for ocean critters to be glass animals.
