This scene was initially inspired by the leaf bridges I saw in the trailers for the new pixar movie Coco and thought it would be fun to try and recreate some of that effect in Unreal. I also haven't done any new scenes since the new volumetric fog effects came out so I wanted to try and do a scene that used these effects very heavily.

The bridge was basically made by placing bridge meshes into the level that were set to not render, then painted thousands of individual fully 3D leaves unto the bridge meshes using the foliage tool covering every inch, ended up using over 400-500k leaves in total not counting the vfx ones. On top of this I created a shader for the leaves that had some good variation in color and made it so that they were bright at the top of the bridge and faded down into a darker red color towards the bottom. If you look closely the lower areas also have a panning effect to fake lots of leaves falling while the top remains more still. I also created a few VFX to throw on it to fake the leaves falling similar to the trailer.

All leaves, leaf vfx, and shaders for the bridge were created by me. Several of the other meshes were taken from the Unreal Marketplace and some were bought from turbosquid.

The music used in this video was created by bought from Tybercore
