Replace A-TYPE Music With The March of the Toreadors (From the original Tetris)
There are four critical tiers and only the last line affects the top-most two rows of the stage's music, therefore it is optional. The unused song will loop during silence after a Tetrimino is set into the structure.

I couldn't find any references in the ROM which would suggest that this was once a D-TYPE song. It might have been an early VS Song, but I couldn't find any evidence of that either.
Why did Nintendo not use this? Was the menu variation unfinished in time? Did Nintendo want to keep the 3 song tradition? Who knows and I'm certain we never will. Looking at the song table doesn't really provide any more information.
