Unused Tokyo and Yokohama Maps - Godzilla: Save the Earth
These are the Tokyo and Yokohama sections of the large map of Japan that was created for the cut story mode. Tokyo consists of five sections and Yokohama is made up of four. Tokyo is in a somewhat finished state. It lacks polish, and the carnival and south sections are missing objects. Yokohama is extremely unfinished and is made up of many placeholder models and textures. The map is very unstable and will usually crash if Godzilla sets foot on land, but using the free camera, we can get a closer look at the level. Perhaps the most interesting part of this level is the presence of Destoroyah's flying form who is fully animated yet was never used anywhere in the final version of the game.
The Tokyo sections of the map, aside from the carnival section, were supposed to be used for mission 10 of adventure mode. There are a few sources that detail how this mission would play out. The mission would start off with Mecha-Ghidorah who, controlled by the Vortaak, is dropping Vorillium Accelerators throughout Tokyo (the basketballs from challenge mode. They're actually bombs). Godzilla's goal was to pick up the Vorillium Accelerators and defuse them by throwing them into saltwater. Doing this would awaken Destoroyah who Godzilla would then have to fight. It seems likely that the carnival mission was a direct continuation of mission 10 since both feature Destoroyah, and the carnival section is connected to the sections for mission 10.
It's unknown what missions were intended to take place in Yokohama. These sections are extremely rough with some strange placeholder textures and basic building models. Judging from the bundles, it seems like these sections were connected to the "hawk" map I showcased in an earlier video.
This is about it as far as surviving cut story maps go. There is one more major section intended for mission 1 that I'd like to showcase someday, but it still won't load. It's a shame too because it appears to be the most complete out of all of the story maps. I do also have what may be more (or less) up-to-date versions of mission 10, but they didn't load the last time I tried. The only other sections that do load are just pathways intended to connect various sections of the Japan map. They contain nothing interesting visually or gameplay-wise. I probably will upload a video showcasing all of them eventually, but it's not a priority. If you're wondering what these sections look like, I have two old videos of two of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCEfaAsegVk and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sc7AkTVBvLc
