The Mil MI-24, a large Soviet-era attack helicopter, has been in service since 1972, and continues to be built today in Russia.

The aircraft saw combat in Africa in the 70s and is currently being used in Ukraine.

Mujahadeen fighters in the Soviet-Afghan war of the 1980s called the Mi24 Satan's Chariot.
