Up Your Game! Know Your Intel® GPU Architecture | GDC 2021
19Extract the full value of Intel platforms to achieve higher performance on games and graphics applications using the Intel® Graphics Performance Analyzer. Developers, using knowledge about the data from Intel(r) GPA and how it correlates to Intel GPU EUs, will be able to optimize for Intel’s discrete and integrated GPUs.
The GPU’s Execution Unit (EU) is a critical component of Intel Xe Architecture. Both compute and render workloads leverage the EU. In order to optimize your application workloads, it is necessary to understand how the EU operates. This comprehension will enable you to interpret performance data and make necessary optimizations. This session will describe how core EU metrics (Thread Occupancy, GPU Active, EU Active, EU Stall) are calculated, and what classes of problems they pertain to. Further, this session will cover the use of Intel® GPA’s Graphics Frame Analyzer to understand how to increase optimization when faced with challenges related to these EU metrics. In addition, the difference between data access stall and latency will be explained as well as how GPA Hotspot Analysis and Shader Profiler can help with their analyses during shader optimization.
