v0.29 Main Changes
◆ New survival book page: Stats page - For this patch we’re introducing a more complex version of the player survival systems. Eat too much for too long? you’ll start to put on weight and stats such as athleticism will go down. Eat too little and exercise too much, strength will eventually begin to go down. It’s important now to keep an eye on how you are eating and your energy levels as they have more gameplay impact. These new stats are available in the new ‘Stat’ page of the survival book.
◆ Combined Run & Underwater Breathing silent skills into ‘Athleticism’ stat which goes up from both swimming and running
◆ New “Currently Feeling” system In stats pages, tells which survival stat is currently of greatest concern.
◆ Added new “Strength” stat. Goes up every day while eating well and chopping trees. Goes down when over exerted and underfed.
◆ New “Sanity” system. Sanity goes down when killing an enemy, chopping limbs, eating an enemy and slowly while in caves. Sanity goes up when sleeping, listening to music, eating fresh non limb meat and slowly while restoring energy on bench. Viewable in stats page of book.
◆ Added “Weight” stat. Goes up and down based on food consumption - Being overweight lowers Athleticism
◆ New survival book page: To Do list Also new to the survival book is the To Do list. The player character will write down notes for things that seem important to do as the game progresses, early on functioning as a mini tutorial - build a camp, find food, and later giving more focus to cave exploration
◆ We've added a stealth visibility icon whilst crouched to help players understand when visible to enemies, and also to make clear that hiding in a bush is a perfectly fine alternative to combat.
◆ Nearby enemies are now attracted by the sound of falling trees
(Audio) - Fire crackle and pop added.
◆ Crow bird type added to game & Crow Sounds added
◆ Player now has a chance to gain seeds when harvesting berries

The Forest Gameplay Walkthrough Season 2 Part 1 (Alpha v0.29)
The Forest is an open world survival horror game currently in development for PC. - Build, explore, survive in this terrifying first person survival horror simulator.
The world - Enter a living, breathing forest with changing weather patterns, plants that grow and die. Tides that roll in and out with the day/night cycle. Below ground explore a vast network of caves and underground lakes.
Complete player freedom - Chop down trees to build a camp, or start a fire to keep warm. Scavenge food to keep yourself from starving. Find and plant seeds to grow food.
Build a small shelter or a large ocean side fortress. decorate your home with found items. Lay traps and defenses to keep a safe perimeter.
Gameplay - Explore and build during the day. Defend your base at night. Craft weapons and tools.Bunker down during the evening or bring the fight directly to the enemy.
Fight or Hide - Use stealth to evade enemies, or engage them directly with crude weapons built from sticks and stones.
A new type of open world, survival horror experience, Defend yourself against a clan of genetic mutant enemies that have beliefs, families and morals and that appear almost human.
