Off the Grid Performance Boost– Complete Guide
In this video, we’ll walk you through the fastest and most efficient way to optimize your gameplay experience in Off the Grid, the ambitious cyberpunk-themed Battle Royale from Gunzilla Games. Whether you’re playing on a mid-range or high-end PC, these simple steps will significantly boost your framerates, eliminate stuttering, and provide a smoother, more responsive experience.
This is my second video on this topic and by far the most complete one. I’m providing a batch file that you can easily copy and paste into the game’s save folder, which will automatically adjust all of your settings without any hassle.
Windows Optimization
First, we’ll start by enabling Ultimate Performance Mode on Windows. You can easily do this by opening PowerShell and inputting the code provided in the description below. This step is optional, but highly recommended for those who want to push their system to its maximum potential. After enabling this mode, head over to your power plan settings and make sure it’s set to Ultimate Performance.
Nvidia Control Panel Settings
Next, we’ll optimize your Nvidia Control Panel settings by adding the game’s executable file (located in the Off the Grid \ G1 \ Binaries \ Win64 folder). Once added, we’ll adjust a few key settings to ensure your GPU is fully optimized for Off the Grid. Just copy and paste my recommended settings and hit apply.
Background Programs
Don’t forget to check your Task Manager for any unwanted programs that may be eating up your memory and CPU. Personally, I always close Google Chrome before playing since it takes up a lot of RAM, which can affect performance.
Game Performance Before Optimization
Before running the optimization, I’ll show you how the game performs with the lowest possible settings. In the training zone, you’ll see we’re getting around 83 FPS, but this is far from stable. During the warm-up, the FPS drops to 46, making the game less playable—especially on a 2560x1440 resolution.
Applying the Batch File for Optimization
Now, let’s apply the optimized batch file. Simply copy and paste the file into your save folder and run it—no need for any additional manual tweaks. I’ve updated the code so you don’t even have to check the Read-only status. The download link for the batch file is in the description below.
Improved Game Performance After Optimization
After applying the batch file, the improvements are immediate. We’ll have DLSS enabled, but most other settings (such as draw distance) will be turned off or greatly reduced. This won’t affect the visual quality too much, but you’ll see a dramatic increase in performance. For instance, after optimization, we’re seeing FPS rates around 136 to 138—nearly doubling the original performance.
Game Testing & Results
Let’s head back into the training zone and real gameplay. You’ll notice the graphics look different, but the key improvement is the stable frame rates. Even in the warm-up zone, we’re getting over 100 FPS consistently. Compared to the unoptimized performance, where we averaged around 68 FPS, the optimized settings nearly double the frame rate. In actual gameplay with gunfights and intense sequences, the FPS will occasionally drop but will still stay consistently above 60 FPS.
About the Game & Known Issues
Off the Grid stands out with its unique fusion of PvP and PvE mechanics, set in the dystopian world of Teardrop Island. As players navigate the conflict between mega-corporations and survive in a cyberpunk world, they experience a mix of fast-paced firefights and deep narrative elements. Customizable cyberlimbs and high-fidelity, 3D-scanned weapons offer players further immersion.
However, despite its stunning visuals and ambitious design, Off the Grid suffers from significant optimization issues. Players have reported frame rate drops, long load times, and connectivity issues, especially in critical moments during combat. Even on high-end systems, inconsistent performance can detract from the experience. These issues, if not addressed, may push players towards better-optimized competitors like Fortnite or Apex Legends.
The development team has acknowledged the optimization problems and is working on fixes, but in the meantime, this guide will help you boost performance, smooth out gameplay, and eliminate stuttering.
