Uplink is a classic game from 2001 which puts you in the shoes of a black hat, a independent hacker for hire taking jobs from shady organizations. The missions are a mix of procedurally generated and a larger story which kicks in later. Recently the game got an overhauled UI in the form of UplinkOS from fans of the game and it's absolutely worth checking.
