플레이어는 메인 무기와 서브 무기를 장착한 로봇을 조작합니다. 각 무기는 특성과 사용 방식이 달라, 전투 스타일에 따라 적절히 교체할 수 있으며, 특수 기술인 히트 어택도 최대 2개까지 장착 가능합니다. 이 외에도 부스트로 포위를 탈출하거나 오버드라이브로 화력을 극대화하는 등 다양한 액션이 전투를 역동적으로 만듭니다.
적 처치 시 드랍되는 에너지를 모아 강력한 히트 어택을 발동할 수 있고, 지역 내 파괴 가능한 오브젝트에서 회복 아이템이나 비트를 얻을 수도 있습니다. 이 비트는 상점에서 부활 아이템이나 아머, 플러그인을 구매하는 데 쓰이며, 필요 없는 무기 모드를 팔아 자원을 확보하는 것도 가능하죠.
지역 탐험 중 다운로드 지점을 만나면 새로운 무기, 모드, 플러그인 등을 무작위로 획득할 수 있습니다. 무기는 주무기 또는 보조무기로 장착 가능하며, 특수 효과가 부여된 버전도 등장합니다. 모드는 무기에 장착되어 지속 대미지나 폭발, 불꽃 등 다양한 효과를 제공하며, 플러그인은 자동 적용되어 추가 효과를 제공합니다.
만약 전투 중 파괴된다면 우주 궤도 정거장에서 부활하여 다시 준비를 갖추고 지구로 돌아오게 됩니다. 정거장에서는 첩보를 소모해 다양한 카트리지를 연구하고, 슬롯 수 제한에 맞춰 조합하여 능력을 강화할 수 있죠. 또한, 시작 무기와 히트 어택을 설정하거나 메카의 외형을 변경할 수도 있습니다.

In Uragun, you play as a lone mech on a quest to find your missing pilot, diving into infected zones packed with hostile AI enemies. It's a top-down action shooter with tight controls, punchy weapons, and a satisfying loop of combat, upgrades, and exploration.
Each area presents branching paths, each tied to specific rewards like new weapons, mods, plugins, or health boosts. As you progress, you'll face increasingly dangerous enemy types—from basic gunners to explosive bots and massive bosses that test your reflexes and loadout choices.
Your mech is equipped with a primary and secondary weapon, each customizable and swappable during missions. Collecting energy from fallen enemies allows you to unleash devastating "Heat Attacks," which range from area blasts to ranged throws. Boosts let you dash through enemy swarms or leap across chasms, while Overdrive temporarily cranks up your damage output.
Scattered across each level are destructible objects and download stations. Breaking crates might drop bits or healing items, while downloads let you unlock random new gear or upgrade options on the fly. Found a new weapon? Swap it with your current loadout—some come with rare bonus effects. Mods give your weapons fire trails, DOT damage, or splash effects, and plugins passively enhance your mech's capabilities.
Should you fall, you're resurrected on a space station hub where you can research new cartridges, unlock loadout slots, and tweak your starting kit before heading back to Earth. It’s a gameplay loop that keeps you moving, shooting, upgrading, and adapting.
