Last week, the Treasury market increased on expectations that the Federal Reserve will announce steps to curtail interest rate increases. The increase brought the benchmark 10-year yield back to about 4%. Some investors have bet that the bond market turmoil would soon come to an end. But opinions among investors about what the Fed will do in December remain sharply divided. On Friday, the monthly employment report is expected to be released. 200,000 new positions are expected to have been added in October, a modest decrease from the previous month.

According to data released last week, inflation may be reaching a pinnacle as the personal consumption expenditure index remained stable in September at a rate of 6.2% annually. The most recent SMRA portfolio survey revealed that for the first time since 2021, investors were once again net long at 100.1%.
