U.S. Navy Call Them "Black Hole," But Why? #shorts
The Project 636.3 submarines are built on the original Kilo-class from the early 1980s, and are some of the quietest in the entire world. They're extremely difficult to track that they have earned the nickname “Black Hole." These boats are 243 feet long and displace 3,900 tons. They have a small crew of 52 sailors, and can cruise at a depth of 787 feet, with a maximum depth of 984 feet, and they have a range of 7,500 miles, 600 miles more than America's famous B-2 stealth bomber. These are attack submarines, and their purpose is to eliminate enemy submarines and destroy surface ships as well. Their cruise missiles also give them land-attack capabilities, and since they are so quiet, they can reconnaissance and patrol close to shores and collect intelligence data. Nowadays they are patrolling the Black Sea, while carrying deadly Kalibr cruise missiles, that they have used to destroy targets in Ukraine. These submarines have been exported to China, Vietnam, and Algeria, and has served the Russians well, but they do have weaknesses! For example, they cannot stay out to sea as long as nuclear-powered submarines can, due to being a diesel powered submarine.
