Using my channel’s second anniversary as an excuse to play Sonic Mania
2About two years ago, an 11-year-old Joshua created this YouTube channel with my first ever video being a remix of Sonic the Hedgehog 1’s Special Stage. Then only 1 day later, I uploaded a video titled “Sonic Mania Plus Glitches!!!! Part 1” and while I don’t recommend watching it since it’s very bad, it in my mind is the first real video I ever made. So I thought it was fitting to use my channel’s second anniversary as an excuse to play Sonic Mania again. Boy was it fun! I had some footage of Sonic Mania in my Sonic 2 review but I was playing with the sound off so I don’t consider that playing it. Thank you all for the support to this channel. I’m still surprised that this channel got a little over 300 subscribers in 2 years! It’s so stupid and ran solely by an 11 to 13-year-old using his iPhone. I know 300 subscribers isn’t much in the grand scheme of things, but you gotta celebrate the little things in life!
Do you know how long this video took to make? 2 hours for recording, 7 hours for editing, 1 hour for exporting only for my phone to crap out on me so I wasn’t able to export it, meaning I had to do the editing ALL OVER AGAIN! That’s another 7 hours to go into editing, another 1 hour for exporting, only for it to crap out AGAIN! I finally found a method that worked so another hour. Then 30 minutes to make the thumbnail and another 30 minutes to write this description so another hour!2+7+1+7+1+1+1=20 hours to make this ONE video! If it didn’t crap out on me, it’d only have taken 11 hours to make. I’ve had to spend more time making other videos. The script heavy Pokémon challenge have definitely taken longer to make. But those I had to write scripts and had several moments when I wasn’t recording and most of them were team runs so I had to grind up 6 Pokémon. Pokémon challenges take on average around 30 hours max to make meanwhile let’s plays like this take at max 6 hours to make. 20 hours is how long it took to make the Sonic Colors Ultimate without Wisps video. I’m so happy to finally be done with this!
During this video, I tried to explain some changes and additions I’ll be making to the channel. The obvious intro change is the only change I’m expecting to make. I’m going to explain the additions here since I didn’t do a good job at explaining it in the video.
First things first: I decided to make a channel soundtrack written and composed by me. Completely original tracks to be used as background music for videos that don’t have any background music. However, these tracks are looped for 10 minutes just like my Sonic Aftershock series of remixes and because of that, are taking up A LOT of storage space on my phone so I decided I’d occasionally upload those videos to use them later and for you guys to enjoy. I think I’ll do a double upload whenever I release them as in channel soundtrack in the morning and real video in the afternoon. They’re named after an old Bloxals Builders game I made a long time ago so they sound like they’re from a video game. Fitting, isn’t it?
Next, and my favorite update, I will start making short hand-drawn animatics mostly about gaming using an original character I invented named Sammy Witch. If the name doesn’t get it idea across, Sammy is a child witch who plays video games in her free time. She’s inspired by me a few years ago. They’re hand-drawn since I haven’t figured out how to use animation software. Voice acting is not likely since this is a one-man show and I don’t have money to pay voice actors. Colour is a solid maybe since since it might make them look bad cuz filling every panel with colour pencils leaves a lot of white spots. I don’t want my child to look bad. Is it weird to call her my child? I’ve heard other people call their original characters their children so it can’t be that weird, right? Don’t think she’s going to be the only character on the show, I have an idea for a dragon/bug hybrid, but I know for a fact she will become a reality. I don’t care if she doesn’t get a lot of views as that’s never stopped me before, I just want to have an original character as kind of a mascot for the channel. I’m really excited to make her a reality.
I don’t know when either of these updates will be coming out, but they will happen! Sammy Witch will become a reality!
