Starbound 1.3 mechs are designed so you can't take them on storyline missions, challenge rooms or anything else you don't beam down to in the regular fashion. But using the Starbound Mech Deployer mod & the Portable Tech + Teleporter Console mod, you can deploy your mech in these places.

In this video we see how to use Starbound mechs on missions, including The Ruin, using these mech mods. We take our mech shark for a spin on several of the game's main missions, including the Floran Hunting Grounds. We also take it to fight the Heart of Ruin boss, and see if your mech can survive the fight!

We look at drawbacks of using Starbound mechs on missions using the Mech Deployer mod, including where you can deploy your mech, how mission checkpoints work and how to get around the limitations of the mod using console commands.
