UtD: How to Fix Slenderman's Shadow Launch Errors! Sanatorium, Elementary, Mansion!
MORE INSTRUCTIONS DOWN HERE (I'm using Windows 7)
---------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE:
I have been getting a lot of repetitive questions in the comment section, as much as I like to try and help every single one of you it would be very much appreciated if you could check to see if I have answered a question similar to yours already. If it's too much hassle and you just want to ask anyway - that's fine, I'll understand. But keep in mind it's pretty time consuming for me to reply to everyone as it is.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I show you how you might be able to fix Sanatorium, Hospice, Elementary, Mansion & Claustrophobia's launch issues. This seems to be the main issue with most users running Windows Vista or Windows 7.
HOW I FIXED MY GAME
- Right-click on game (.exe)
- Click Properties
- Click Compatibility
- Run this program in compatibility mode for 'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)'
- Apply then click okay.
- Right-click on the game, then run as admin
- You may get an error again, just close it
- Right-click on the game again, and run it as admin
- The game should now work.
---------------------------------------------------------------
OTHER THINGS TO TRY
- If you get a "'Please enter Password to continue.'' message
If you haven't already, make sure you EXTRACT THE GAME FROM THE ZIP FILE.
If it's still not working, try 1) Extracting again, 2) Downloading again. This error message only appears if the game wasn't extracted properly, so a corrupted file can cause this.
- Try updating Direct X:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
- Check to see if a new version of the slender map has been released, often Marc will release a new map and then a few hours later will release a 1.1 version.
- If you get a message saying "FPSC has stopped responding" then try running the game in compatibility mode for 'Windows XP Service Pack 2', with 'Disable DPI Scaling on High Resolutions' ticked ON
- The game developer also recommends that you download this file:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3dx9_31
And put the DLL file in your C:/Windows/System32 directory.
- AFTER trying these things, if it still doesn't work, attempt the "HOW I FIXED MY GAME" steps again.

## Daluigi208's FIX
## (http://youtube.com/user/Daluigi208)
If you have a 64-bit system (Go to the task bar, right click Computer, and go to properties to check), read on!
Download the d3dx9_31.dll file, but this time, place it both in your System32 AND your SysWOW64 folder.
Once that's done, run the game as administrator, and the game will work on your 64-bit machine! I just tested it with Sanatorium! Try it!

## PERFORMANCE SETTINGS!
If your game is running laggy, here's something you can try:
(FOR WINDOWS 7)
1. Right click on 'Computer' in the start menu and click on 'Properties,
2. Then in the sidebar click 'Advanced System Settings'
3. Click on the 'Advanced' tab
4. Where it says 'Performance' click on settings
5. Tick the 'Adjust for best performance' button
It'll make your computer look pretty terrible - but you can always change it back when you're done playing. If you're playing the original Slender: The Eight Pages I recommend just turning the graphic settings down in the game. The fog and grass detail really slows that down.
