Valheim - Snapshot - Lazy Stone Portal Setup - Getting Coal from Surtlings & Building on a Crypt
The continuing adventures in the Valheim world we've have been running since Hearth and Home was released. All vanilla, no mods, survivor mode.
This is a light combat video with a bit of crafting. Recording was made during patch 0.218.15 after Ashlands was officially released. This video contains spoilers for the Ashlands update.
So, I need iron, as always, for everything. Now that I can craft a stone portal, I've got to get one somewhere close to the iron ore.
Thankfully, we had a lot of crypts that were unexplored close to our Moder boss portal... but it was very far away and I didn't want to sail over there.
So, I brought the materials to make the smelter everything but the iron for the stonecutter and took a portal over.
Once at a crypt, I set up a workbench and put down some chests full of the portal and stonecutter materials and then went looking for iron ore.
Once I found a bit, I had to get some coal from the local surtlings. It felt appropriate to try the Staff of Fracturing on them, and it was good.
After gathering a little bit of coal, I went off to make my iron and then the portal.
I had to make a wooden platform to put the stone portal on. I'm not sure if my chests and benches were clipping the portal (very likely) or the top of the crypt wasn't large enough to build on?
Regardless, I've got my portal established and I can go over whenever I need to mine for some iron.
Whenever I'm done with the Ashlands and get back to the dock, I'll be sure to use it.
This clip is from day 1996 and will be included in an upcoming video.
Thanks for watching.
