A video on my recent learning on how to mod player character armour. This is a fairly rough guide on how to mod armour/clothing for a player character. I hope as crude as it is that it will help, if you follow what I did it should work. But for the sake of not having the video go on too long, you will need to refine the bone assignments more than I did. Load it in game, see what it's like and make changes where needed. Especially if you are changing polygon, vertices and line placements or outright replacing them and or adding new ones.

You will need some things to get this working, get the game, unofficial patch and install the SKD and extract all the files with it.

Unofficial Patch

Or

Get this Blender plugin.

Go to installation then download source tools

A couple things I forgot to mention. You might have to weight paint some aspects as parts of the model unconnected to where you want them can still be connected. Sometimes in the qc file you will need to delete the "$collisionjoints" section, sometimes you don't. You might as well anyway as it always seems to work without it. If for whatever reason you need to reimport the skeleton, if you do will have no connection it's model anymore. In objects mode, highlight the model and then the skeleton, CTRL + P and connect with empty bones. (Or select skeleton first then the model, whichever) then redo all the weight painting and bone selection. Also make sure that the polygons/faces are facing the front way as the backside of them will not be displayed in game.
