When World of Warcraft was originally released, hunter pets had unique abilities. One of these was a rare wolf found in Duskwood that dealt shadow damage for its attacks instead of normal physical damage. Originally WOW pets did not gain boosts from your own stats like they do in later expansions which lowered their scalability by a lot. This pet was quite strong and actually made the Hunter class somewhat more viable in the endgame, at least for solo play.

I test him here against various mobs and a few elites. As expected, he can more than hold his own, especially if you have the tier 1 set bonus.
