vECM | LSP & TextMate powering a new era of Eclipse plugins -Eclipse Photon Series
Eclipse Photon release welcome support for 2 new languages in the Eclipse IDE: Rust and C#. The quality of the editors is very nice for projects that didn't require too much effort in development and maintenance and could reach a good usability so fast. Their secret is that they rely on Language Server Protocol and TextMate and make the IDE be a front-end for logic provided by other tools.
In this presentation we'll showcase the 2 plugins in action, detail the architecture they use and explain how it can easily be mimicked for many languages, and discuss the current limitations and new opportunities coming with this new approach for doing text editors in the Eclipse IDE.
