VEGA Conflict - A Simple Change To Make Progression More Open
Planet Strike, Sector Strike, and Alien Strike. What do the three have in common? And how is what they have in common a mistake?
Lets answer that question by breaking them down into the tiers that they represent. I will use the Planet Strike as an example. The Planet Strike is meant for the low level player base as a first step in the progression system currently in effect in the game. It is a means to unlock ship hull blueprints, weapons and weapon blueprints, Specials, and Time Tokens. That is also its flaw. It gives you only a certain set of technology to unlock at one time, and so you may need to wait for a specific Planet Strike prize cycle for something you may need.
A simple fix would be to put all the tech of the forth tier into the prize list, instead of how it cycles now. It would also make progression in the game more open and put it on a steadier course. Right now in Planet Strike, it is a matter of timing when a certain cycle of prizes will be in game that you may need to advance further. That is a hindrance to players that are limited on time that they may play, and may be discouraging to others if something happens and they miss their chance at the tech in that single twenty four hour time frame until the prizes they want are cycled in
again. It is the same situation with Sector Strike and Alien Strike, limiting progression through cycling of prizes.
Do you see the mistake that is within each strike now?
Now, would it be a mess if all the prizes for their matching tiers were put into their matching strikes? That would be up for debate. But please remember, if all the tiers blueprints, weapons, and time tokens were unlocked to their corresponding
tiers, players would all have a more steady and open path to advance and would encourage more daily playtime in game, because waiting on a certain strike cycle would no longer be a hindrance.
