VF #41 (PS3 60fps) VF5 & VF5FS - just how hard do they get? : o
In my first Goh (haha oh dear) at Quest Mode in Virtua Fighter 5 on PS3, the "Normal" difficulty setting had been super darn easy, at least in the early arcades--and then abruptly harder when I switched to the alternate "Hard" difficulty (you can switch it on the fly, it's kind of weird): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM3qrXpId_k&list=PLZO3OPzPjIzPM-lovQPZTSbZb4NGm9VmE&index=42&t=2775s
I was starting to wonder just how hard Quest Mode gets, so after a bit vs other lowbies on Hard in this session, I figured I'd run over to the elite level arcade--you can do this in VF5, all virtual arcades are available right from the start, unlike in the previous game, Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution--and pick a fight with the toughest opponent I could find.
Now, according to FAQs and stuff there are named ranks beyond 10th dan--like "Destroyer" and that kind of thing--and I haven't hit an opponent of those ranks among the random virtual cabs; maybe they just come up in tournaments or something? Or just rarely, I dunno.
So anyway here's me seeing how my noob Goh (I know like two moves! : D) fared against the "Elite" arcade peeps I could find in Quest Mode, on "Hard" difficulty setting:
0:00 - start
0:42 - there's the Hard difficulty set under Quest settings from the Quest Mode home menu
1:02 - At the easy Sega Arena Coast arcade, that "negora" Sarah was the one who'd given me a tough fight when I first switched to the "Hard" difficulty. I figured I'd try some of her compatriots too.
3:15 - That was hard! I mean, it went very poorly! Darn Jacky. : P But how hard is it really at the "elite" arcade, Sega World South? Let's try! Hey there's a 10th dan Lau, MEGAMIXER! If I can beat him, I can beat anyone, right? : o
9:39 - Gee, but my two-move Goh can hold his own against and even defeat some of these "elites"! Is this game just not that hard? : oo How about we compare VF5 against its follow-up on PS3, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown? So here I've switched over to Final Shodown and am running Goh against a the "VF Academy" team of opponents on VERY HARD difficulty in the game's Special Sparring mode--which is as close as I can get to playing Quest Mode, since VF5FS doesn't have Quest Mode. : P
11:28 - That was tough! And maybe it was 'cause it was Lion, but he seemed a lot more aggressive than those AIs in VF5 quest mode, too. Let's try another VF5FS Special Sparring team, Dreamers, and their lead-off Akira : o, also on VERY HARD
14:36 - Okay, I almost held my own there. Let's go back to VF5 and try VERY HARD Arcade mode there!
22:26 - That El Blaze in the first stage was tricky as heck! How many continues will Brad in the second stage take? : o
30:41 - That Brad was kind of hesitant sometimes, but tough to put a run of rounds in against. How about Wolf in stage 3?
35:55 - Okay I think I hit my limit there. : oo So VF5 is capable of putting up a hard enough fight for the likes of me. I guess then that some of the Quest Mode AIs are just quirky in ways that benefit my dumb play style. Let's try some different AIs in Quest Mode on Hard--the "advanced" players at Sega World North (I quit the first match to get a stage without lightning flashes 8 P)
Kind of another mixed bag there, but definitely keeping me on my toes! So I guess Quest Mode will do. : )
