Sometimes the pins on freshly pulled chip might be a bit...well, bent, sharp, covered with solder, etc...so you have to be careful not to hurt the newly installed socket with these strange recently de-soldering chips...and you have to be ready to do some corrective work on the sockets if a pin snags them or somehow leaves them in not the perfect configuration...I should have got a 18 pin shark tooth socket...they cost more, but they are built to last...and not get messed up when chips are popped in and out for testing...
