Accomplished saxophonist and recording artist Vincent Herring celebrates the centennial of the birth of Charlie Parker and the album Bird at 100. The soul-stirring Bird at 100 traces a direct lineage from Parker’s birthplace in Kansas City to the stage of Smoke Jazz & Supper Club, where Vincent, along with saxophonists Gary Bartz and Bobby Watson, look back from the vantage point of jazz in the current time, with a combination of reverence, respect and adventure. The album includes David Kikoski (piano), Yasushi Nakamura (bass) and Carl Allen (drums).

Joining Vincent in the discussion is singer, songwriter, and NEA Jazz Master Sheila Jordan. Sheila is a true original who lives for bebop and the music of Charlie Parker. She was Bird's good friend and has so many great stories about him.
