This footage was captured by Shadowplay. This is a non-physical copy of the game Viper being played in RetroArch using the Beetle PSX core at the games's native resolution. This is emulated footage because this game was not released in my region and cannot be played on my NTSC Playstation console since it is a PAL release only. Loading times have been removed for your consideration and whatever enjoyment you can get out of this video.

So here is a game I never knew existed until today. I've never seen it mentioned on any "hidden gems" list, and if you look it up on the internet you will not find any reviews, instead you'll find information in it's origins. I'll keep it short. This game was derived from a well known game called Tunnel B1 which was released in my region on both the Playstation and Sega Saturn. This game was supposed to be incorporated into Tunnel B1 originally, but the developer thought that they had enough content to make these flight sequences it's own game so they cut it out and made a separate game called Viper which was only released in PAL regions for some unknown reason. The Saturn was supposed to get this game as well but it was canceled. So what we have here is an on rail shooter that is designed to play alot like Star Fox. I just discovered this game today after watching a sample gameplay for the upcoming multi-platform console called the Polymega. This game will be installed in the Polymega for no extra charge. To be completely honest I was not wowed by the gameplay that I saw and I had to try it for myself to make any kind of judgement. So I set out to find a RIP of it on the internet. Let me tell you that this is NOT an easy game to find. I searched all of my usual sources for ROMs and came up short every time. I've always been able to find whatever game that I was looking for except for this one. After finally asking Google the right question I found this game and downloaded it and slapped it into Retroarch when I got home.

There are a few gameplays of this game on You Tube but nobody mentions the things about it that I'm about to tell you. First of all the game is dark. Really dark. I have a well adjusted TV and even when I turn my brightness up to a stupid level the dark spots simply become gray. There is no hidden detail in the darkest areas. Not being able to see what's coming at you whether it's enemy fire or a wall becomes a game in itself that isn't fun. This footage as not been modified or corrected in any way. What you see in the capture is actually how dark this game is. However I can't decide if the fact that the game is too dark is worse than the other big problem it has. There is NO autofire! Not even a little. Any 3D shooter worth its salt has atleast a semi-auto fire. Not this game! Every shot is a single button press. Play this game for an extended period of time and you could develop carpel tunnel syndrome. Seriously, I don't know any shooter made after the 3rd generation that didn't have atleast a semi-auto fire button. To say that this game is flawed is a huge understatement. Also not shown in this video are the later levels where enemy fire literally becomes impossible to dodge. This is not as big of a problem if you're playing the game on easy like I am here where your helicopter has strong armor. When you change the game's difficulty setting, you have a slower helicopter with weaker armor. The hardest setting means you have the slowest helicopter with weak armor while the game itself remains exactly the same. The difficulty setting is just as uninspired as the rest of the game. The gameplay is so mind numbing and so much is coming at you that you're literally going to be button mashing constantly with no satisfaction of knowing what you hit. I really wanted to give this game a fair shot since I absolutely adore this genre and Star Fox, Panzer Dragoon, and Sin and Punishment are among some of my favorite games. Without its two massive flaws the game would have been serviceable at best.

So why did I even do this video? Because when the Polymega releases and the usual shill You Tubers get a hold of their review units, they'll all be talking about how amazing this game is and how it's such a hidden gem. Since this is such a hard game to find I have provided a link to download it here. I figure that you should get to try this turd out for yourself as I did. Let me know what you think. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1i_g-xIT0hsX_fT1I639RuUW47Y3pWvNP
