Everyone loves Virtua Fighter but for some reason Virtua Fighter 3 doesn't get near as much love as it deserves! I still think its one of the best Sega games of all time and Sega recently re-released Virtua Fighter 3 in arcades in Japan as Virtua Fighter 3tb Online! The Sega Dreamcast expanded version...on a modern system! It's basically the slower Tekken from Namco and IMO the better fighting game series! Whether you play it on Sega Model 3 (like I am here) or on Dreamcast or Sega NAOMI. But considering most people played Virtua Fighter 3 on Dreamcast the Model 3 version is a bit of a Sega Hidden Gem

I have been teasing this series for a very long time...ever since I did the Sega Arcade Racing Retrospective last year...and that's because it took a VERY LONG TIME to make...a thirty episode retrospective on every Sega Model 1, Sega Model 2 and Sega Model 3 arcade game ever made that isnt a racing title! Because Sega is the undisputed (in my opinion) king of retro gaming in arcades whether it be 2D or 3D!

Just don't expect Daytona USA, Scud Race or Sega Rally...as that already happened back in 2023! Check the playlists!

But the Sega Model series of arcade boards are filled to the bring with some of the best Sega games of all time...as well as some Sega Hidden Gems!

Up next: Virtua Fighter 3! Well Virtua Fighter 3 and Virtua Fighter 3TB to be exact as the game got a slight rom upgrade with some tweaks on Model 3...and we may as well play the most complete version of this Sega classic retro gaming experience!

While I love the original Virtua Fighter you can still tell Sega was playing with the 3D fighting game formula and there was definitely some room for improvements! Virtua Fighter 2 expanded on everything... and Virtua Fighter 3 has all those improvements and more! Better graphics, more characters and a better fighting game engine and overall feel! It's a classic Sega game through and through and can compete with the likes of Tekken from Namco on PS1 or Street Fighter EX on PSX! and beat them both in my opinion :)

It's just such a classic arcade fighting game and it paved the way for titles such as Last Bronx, Fighting Vipers and Sonic the Fighters as well!

Plus it got a relatively decent Sega Dreamcast port as well!
