Virtua Fighter 4 PS2 - Aoi starts Kumite! Aoi Arcade playthrough! More Akira Kumite!
Starting Kumite as Aoi Umenokoji in Virtua Fighter 4 for PS2 in the emulator PCSX2! Hitting a wall, then going through NORMAL difficulty Arcade mode with her! And then switching to Akira and probably technically doing worse in Kumite but feeling better.

Was baffled by the buttons not doing what I set them to at the start here and why they'd been reset to default; eventually figured out that a) when you create a new Kumite character here, it saves the current controller config with their character file, so if you change your button option settings later, they'll still be on the OLD button mappings when you go to play that character again, until you go into File Edit or whatever and remap the buttons in there, just for them--and you'd have to do that for each and every character file you'd created under the old button scheme! SHEESH. Oh yeah and b) I reset them to kinda defaults 'cause I was trying to play Akira on pad last time out. : P
Had more fun with Aoi here than in VF5FS, she's faster and her kick is way better; I still can't do counters of course so it's a pretty weak version of Aoi but I was still having decent fun mashing away with her--more than I did in 5FS, where she feels slower and doesn't have a noteworthy kick--until 1st dan rank or so and that turned out to be pretty much my limit, at least for now.
Thought I'd finally try Arcade mode since I've been complaining to myself in my own head lately about how I get all anxious over Kumite. Well, I don't like VF4 Arcade mode, it turns out: way too long--14 stages total! = P (all the regular chars and the special bonus char; I tried figuring how many stages that would be near the end but I overcounted by 1 'cause I forgot that although they added 2 in 4 to the 12 from 3tb, they also REMOVED 1--big sumo Taka-Arashi)--and too easy, then way too hard right at the end. Bleh! The difficulty curve in 3tb is quite good--AND the right length--so what happened here?? Probably won't be trying THAT again. :PP
Then back to Akira to see how that compares in Kumite to Aoi and yeahhhh he just hits harder and that's kinda more fun for my simpleton brain--even though I'm apparently doing WORSE with him, struggling mightily and still only up to 2nd kyu rank so far. But I've beat a 3rd dan and a bunch of 1st dans with him, whereas I only managed like one 2nd dan or so with Aoi. So he's probably my mashing champ, yeah.
Could have sworn he had a forward punch-plus-kick or forward-forward-punch-plus-kick hand attack or two but no, just punch.
Got to real full on inarticulate mumbling with the fury of my mashing, mmaarhwwghlgmmmph yeahhh!
