The title of the video may seem weird, as it looks like some chinese bootleg version of a game but with chinese ads thrown in.

This is just a tiny little demonstration of the M2 Emulator's incredible and neat texture dump and replacement feature. Normally used to replace SD textures with HD ones, you can also replace textures in games with some of your own as you would in so many other emulators which support custom textures (like Project64, Dolphin, Flycast, etc.) without even having to hack the game's rom files. The only caveat is that you can only replace textures of 3D graphics, no 2D ones afaic.

The way textures are replaced is simple: First, you click on the emulator's game tab while in-game and select "Dump Texture Cache". This will dump all the textures that the emulator has loaded in, which will be stored into the TEXCACHE folder, albeit in monochrome colors. Next, you create a .pat file with the rom name of the game you want to replace textures for within the scripts folder that you create in the emulator's root directory. The file should look like this:

F004009 CF5E3DD9 14 (The location of the PNG file which should replace your target in-game texture)

The number 14 refers to the type of replacement you want to make. It is generally the number used as a full-color replacement. There are other types of replacements but I don't really know though.

Lastly, the two addresses before 14 refer to the target texture you want to replace. The TEXCACHE folder has the textures bearing the addresses of where they are found as names for easy reference, such as "F004009_CF5E3DD9.png", but make sure they are in their correct configuration, otherwise they would appear as corrupted or glitchy if you attempt to load up a particular game of yours you want to replace textures for.

For this demonstration, I used the game Virtua Striker (vstriker) and replaced some of the adboards with those featuring stuff related to China, like the more common household names attached to it like Steam, Unity, weibo, Baidu, Taobao (aka. AliExpress) etc., the former two being more commonly associated with those new Hentai computer games that are coming from said country these days after the release of Mirror.

And about the Midway adboard. Ah yes, because the game itself reminded me so much of the classic PS1 soccer game known as ISS Pro aka. Goal Storm '97, and the fact that the Midway logo always reminded me of the classic italic-style Konami logo before using their non-italic variant in 1998 all the way until 2003 with the new wordmark that they even still use to this day, I decided to throw it in there just to give the game a little bit of that fancy ISS Pro-style vibe.
