This is my first look at the demo gameplay of Vlad Voievod Dracula which is a new Indie game where you take control of Vlad the Impaler in a bid to reclaim your rightful throne. This new Indie game sets the tone with a story line billed with vengeance at its forefront but does it have a place alongside other giants in the action platforming genre such as Castlevania?

The events take place during the first ascension to the throne of Vlad Tepes (The Impaler). Aided by the Ottoman Turks, Dracula sets out to take his rightful throne from Basarab, the son of Dan, who murdered his family and stole the throne. Unable to face Dracula’s army, the Son of Dan flees north, to take shelter in the Bran Castle. But Dracula caught up with him near Bran, so the manhunt begins!

The developers describe the content like this:

You play as Vlad "the Impaler" Dracula, so impaling and other forms of medieval torture will be seen in the game. The violence, gore, torture and medieval battles are a core part of the game.
