This sure lives up to its name. While we have a memorable acid trip ambiance complemented by great music and some noticeable patterns creating great setups, the whole level overstays its welcome to say the least. It may really not have felt as if I spent half an hour for a reason, but that's still definitely a little too much. This feels like both creators were inspired so much to slap 9001 ideas together in just one level. Granted, rules didn't specify what length is reasonable, but a loophole was definitely found in the contest. Heck, you even don't get a single checkpoint. While I didn't die too much here, you have to start the gauntlet all over again. I think that one section with no enemies and very long pathways, including one with a dead end with absolutely nothing, was particularly offensive. While we have transitions between completely vanilla atmosphere and a dream, not all visual choices were pleasant to my eyes. For example, the room with pipes and a peach background was particularly eye-searing. Not only are colors not exactly on point, but I also noticed cutoff with cement blocks and very steep slopes (I liked that shell block lottery there, though). A contrasting example of palette usage was the ghost room. They definitely cooked there, even though Mario looked kinda weird. Other than these, this was a definitely unforgettable experience. Even despite that, such a high place remains a mystery.

In this series, I will be playing levels from SMW Central's Vanilla Level Design Contest 2024. All playthroughs of standard levels will stay blind, albeit their respective videos will be all edited. This means that I only play the levels for the first time while capturing footage. However, an exception will be made for kaizo entries. After I've played them blind first, I'll record their replays and only leave successful attempts.

Super Mario World belongs to Nintendo. I don't own the game itself nor do I monetize its contents. This video wasn't made for business anyway and its sole purpose is showoff and entertainment.
