In this video, Mahalo math expert Allison Moffett gives you a quiz question about calculating the volume of a pyramid.

Calculate the Volume of a Pyramid
---------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have a pyramid with a square base that has sides that measure four, and the pyramid has a height of eight, what is the volume of the pyramid?A. 32/3B. 128C. 128/3D. 256E. 256/3

The Correct Answer
---------------------------------------------------------------------

If you answered C. 128/3, you're correct. If you didn't, you can either go back and try to figure out the correct answer on your own now or read on to see how to solve it.First, you need to remember that the formula for the volume of a pyramid is one third of the area of the base times the height. Since the base is a square, you should also remember that the area is equal to the side squared.Plug in the numbers you were given to end up with volume equal to one third times four squared times eight. Four squared is 16, and 16 times eight is 128. You end up with 128 over three. You can either reduce this further or leave as is.
