VR Benchmark: Windows Mixed Reality 100% Performance Boost with ASW - Does it work?
The new ASW re-projection for Windows Mixed Reality VR headsets such as the Samsung Odyssey, is supposed to give up to 100% performance boost in frame-rate playing Virtual Reality games. But is the new ASW re-projection really working on the Samsung Odyssey in VR game benchmarks and does it really give us the double performance and more fps?
In this video I'm trying out and bench-marking the Beta version of the ASW re-projection built in to the Windows Mixed Reality for Steam VR software, and I'm playing and doing benchmarks of five of the best and most demanding VR games out there: Skyrim VR, DOOM VFR, X-Plane 11 VR, Project Cars 2 VR and also Fallout 4 VR.
All tests are made on the Samsung Odyssey VR headset, and I'm comparing the Windows Mixed Reality ASW re-projection performance against the built-in Asynchronous re-projection in Steam VR. All content is running on my ASUS GL702VS VR Ready Gaming Laptop with a GTX 1070 graphics card and Intel i7 7700HQ CPU.

Tutorial: How to enable the Windows Mixed Reality ASW re-projection
https://steamcommunity.com/games/719950/announcements/detail/1652133167137673234
Steps to make the ASW to work (Only for WMR headsets):
1. Close Steam VR if its running.
2. Enable Beta version of Windows Mixed Reality for Steam VR (inside Steam)
3. Go into the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MixedRealityVRDriver\resources\settings\
4. Open the default.vrsetting file with Notepad
5. Add the line "forceHalfRateWithReprojectionMode" : "motionvector", so the first 2 lines in the file looks like this:
"driver_Holographic_Experimental" : {
"forceHalfRateWithReprojectionMode" : "motionvector",
6. Start Steam VR again and you are ready to go!
