VR Misc: Does Low End VR Marketing Hurt VR?
Cheers Guys,
Video dealing with VR PRO Chinese Google Cardboard compatible units for sale at a mall kiosk in Las Vegas.
Sales Person was a nice guy and just working a job like anyone else to make ends meet. I have no issue with him as he was nice enough to let me film and he didn't seem to know much about VR beyond these units IE Vive/Rift/Sony. IE He wasn't a shill for these guys just a guy working a full time job from what I could tell.
However, selling these for $69.99 really made me think about the potential to do more harm than good for VR. The FOV was much worse than Google Cardboard and the apps for the most part were pulpy and terrible. The motion device as well was out of sync with the experience...in short it was awful from start to finish.
You can purchase these same exact units for about $24 on Amazon.
So what are your guys thoughts on these booths? Will they harm VR? Are they harmless in the long run? Could care less lol?
Interested in hearing your thoughts.
