VTEC popping issue

It seems to be doing this when the car has not been running for long, but is at normal operating temp. I am thinking maybe the EGR is messing up, but since I am new to these types of motors I thought I would ask before messing around too much with it.
Twice the car did not want to start and would bog before shutting off, and this popping sounds has happened a couple times now. It has only happened a couple times, but I need to narrow it down in case something is failing and can damage anything else.
