Capcom's first game is a somewhat repetitive free-moving vertically scrolling shooter in which you have 2 different shots to fire at your enemies (which annoyingly follow you around the screen): a double-shot and a bomb that fires straight up and plows through the small enemies, and destroys one large enemy (which otherwise takes several shots from your double-shot cannon). Certain enemy formations group together in a column; one bomb will give you a nice bonus for taking all of them out; though later in the game you get a better bonus for just shooting them all. Your bombs are limited but the familiar POW symbols from 1942 and other Capcom games restore one bomb each. Single-lettered icons appear on occasion; DON'T TOUCH THESE! They make the enemies more difficult by increasing their numbers, making them shoot more, etc. Another Capcom standby that makes an appearance is the Yashichi (a sort of pinwheel symbol). In most Capcom games it's an icon that gives you a nice bonus-- here, it's an enemy! As in, don't touch it! Various terrain appear below you as you make your way through the game (that has no ending): desert, space, forest/jungle, and ice. One single boss appears in one of the space scenes-- it's Vulgus himself! He takes several shots to destroy or one single bomb, and he has a field of rotating asteroids to protect him. After Vulgus is destroyed (for a nice 10,000 point bonus) you start everything over again. Repetitive but hey, it's Capcom's first game. They would obviously go on to bigger and better things!
