More tips:

- If using cars as weapons, back over zombies instead of hitting them with the front of the car. Your cars will last a LOT longer that way, and they won't take engine damage.

- Now that you finally have a home base, dump some stuff in the locker for Influence and immediately have Lily start calling out for survivors (radio room option). You want people with home skills like Cooking, Fitness Guru, Research, etc., and you're only going to get them by recruiting more survivors. Which survivors/skills you find is random, so you just have to keep recruiting people until you get what you want.

- If you're not sure what facilities to build, a Workshop (don't really need to upgrade it) and Bunkhouse are safe bets. Personally, I tend to hold out until I've recruited a few groups of survivors to see what skills they have; I'll build a Training Area/Dojo if I find a Fitness Guru, or perhaps a Library if I find someone with Research (for the Wits bonus).

- After you've fully-searched a building, the icon displayed on the building on the map tells you what sort of outpost it will become if you set up an outpost there, as well as what sort of resources scavengers will pick up.

- Essentially, outposts generate +3 of a certain type of resource per day (two hours real-time) at a cost of -1 materials per day (so, +2 for material outposts), based on the type of outpost. If the building is empty when you turn it into an outpost, it'll generate ammo. Fuel and medicine outposts seem to be broken at the moment, however, so I wouldn't set up those types of outposts.

In addition, outposts also generate safe zones (zombies can enter, but will not spawn there), which can be extended greatly at the cost of 1 unit of fuel (regardless of outpost count. Select one of your outposts at the bottom of the homebase menu to access this option), and any hordes that enter the safe zone radius will be destroyed by traps. You can use outposts to make huge zombie-free zones, allowing you to scavenge in peace.

- Don't think of the "Call for Scavengers" option as a way to gather materials more quickly; you can easily go back and forth from a particular location half a dozen times in the time it takes for a scavenger to do their business (especially since they don't use cars). Instead, think of it as a method for getting the most resources out of each building; the scavenger called will gather one rucksack worth of resources (+5 ammo/fuel, +8 food/meds, +15 materials) based on what's in the building when you call, not what's there when they get there.

If there are two types of resources in the building, take out the type you don't want them to gather just to be sure, call for scavengers, then make sure to remove the rest of the resources before they finish gathering (any resources left in their place in the building will vanish once their gathering is complete, and you only get one load from their run regardless). They won't grab rucksacks, so you can always just pick the resources up and set them down (keeping in mind that the game will start deleting rucksacks off the map after 10).

- You can take advantage of missions like the morale missions, zed hunts, recruitment missions, etc., to scavenge and set up outposts without being bothered by a bunch of new missions. Having a free helper(s) is nice, as well.

- Characters with Reflexes are the best fighters in the game, followed by Powerhouses (like Marcus). If you can find a Reflex character (or at least another Powerhouse) in the first couple batches of survivors to sub in for Marcus when he's tired, that'd be great. Otherwise, you're guaranteed to get another Powerhouse (Jacob) and two Reflex characters (Ed and Sam) eventually, anyways.

- Normally, when a character becomes tired, you want to switch to someone else and let the first character rest. However, the first time a character's max stamina goes down twice (-40%) and you're not in the middle of a mission, you should get a message from Pastor Will which unlocks the "Words of Inspiration" radio command (resets max stamina to normal amount, can be used once per real-time hour). Take advantage of this command while you can, since it won't be available forever...
