242The Chef's Shift is a wonderfully daft game about running a restaurant but we have to do everything by typing random words assigned to various tasks. Want to make some coffee? Type the word 'badger'! Want to serve some cake? Type the word 'garden'! Simple, huh? Well no, it becomes a tad more complicated...
As well as the whole restaurant managing typing game there's also a gloriously silly story about our character, Lorenzo, a missing diamond necklace, a failed wedding and two rival mafia gangs. Inevitably we get dragged into things and end up chatting to a whole host of characters, including a mafia guy with an amazing name, a police officer who just loves a sit down and a woman who spends a lot of time in the bathroom.
As the game goes on we begin to sell more and more items in the restaurant, ranging from different types of coffees and cakes through to pizzas and pastas, all of which must be cooked and prepared and served by typing!
Sometimes loud people come in and we have to serve their food in UPPER CASE. Clowns require us to type a series of random symbols and dinosaur fans only respond to the sometimes very complicated names of dinosaurs!
All-in-all it's an excellent game with a generous helping of silly plot, a large handful of humour, a cup of chaotic gameplay and a huge pinch of enjoyment.
