I only managed to get the best score on the team; no Heavy Metal Fury or other fancy stuff like that. But in this uptier match with tons of 6.7 tanks and, of course, a bunch of T29 cleaning up the house (major patch but T29 remains unchanged, no nerfs, no BR adjustment) my goal was to survive. And I did.
No yolo, no rushing. Trying to stay at medium to long range. Btw I know that I can't damage the T29 up the hill but maybe he doesn't know himself and my constant attacks will at least make him a bit nervous. The ammo is free of charge, why not use it? In the position that I was in it was all I could do. I was kind of relieved when a team mate finally made a successful bombing run on that T29. I try to move up but then that guy who just got bombed into oblivion jumps into one of his back up T29s right away....how about removing back up functionality for premium vehicles for a start if Gaijin insists on making some of them OP.
Near the end of the game some slight adjustments were required to enable us to win the game. Now I didn't go cap with all the other players because I knew there was a bomber/attacker coming in. I was waiting like two hundred meters away in case the bomber makes short work out of all the lemmings trying to get those tasty RPs and silver lions. Luckily it was just an attacker and no B17, DO217 etc.., so only one of our team got taken down and the others received varying degrees of damage so my hesitation didn't really pay off. Better safe than sorry, anyway. Was trying to guard the point after that since all other players immediately resumed their quest for kills. While in fact at least two enemies approached the point it was too late for them and the game closed down in our favor. Now if I would have left together with the rest of the bunch it would have been a loss. Inflicted by an AA vehicle, recapping the only point on the map unopposed.
In the aftermath I unlocked that new ammo type for the Tiger H1. I wonder why they put that in? It has noticeably worse pen values than the default shell, albeit higher explosive power - on paper. What the Tiger H1 needs with all the uptiering is the APCR shell of the Tiger E. And while we are at it, the Tiger E should move down to BR 5.7. It has no place at 6.0. APCR was very effective in reality since with a penetrating hit most vehicles were abandoned right away even without any serious damage to vehicle or crew. In War Thunder nobody cares how many hits they take. APCR is like the needle gun of the later Panzer III models. Need to make a Swiss cheese out of everything you want to take out. I played a bunch of M4A2 games today (BR 4.3 Sherman) and of course the default ammo is solid shot rounds all over again. I can't count how many times I hit fuel tanks and ammo racks without any effect. I think with APCR you need to snipe every single crew member to get reliable kills. Which is just unrealistic. When on earth do you get enough time to do this in a regular match? Even when the target won't be able to defend itself anymore, some of his team will notice, sooner or later! Same applies to the APCR ammo. Not to mention that it is more likely to bounce, too. This new ammo looks like the best choice when you get thrown into 4.7 games with your Tiger H1. Finally we can actually do some damage to these behemoths down there when we get downtiered that one time out of a hundred matches. Sigh. Why do they spent valuable resources on something like this? We have quite a lot of ammo types ripe for the trashcan already. Fragmentation rounds, HEAT rounds, HE rounds once they got hit with the nerf bat and so on.
