My voice is still pretty borked, and this video was recorded a few weeks ago, so apologies for the lack of audio. Further down in this description is a quick primer on the 'Zomber'.

War Thunder is a fantastic game, I love it dearly, but it does have some problems. Every game mode has its issues but I do feel like the Sim mode is often overlooked (and it is).

So what is a Zomber?

The zomber's mission is bomb the Airfield, repeatedly. As you can drop more bombs on an airfield compared to a regular bombing target. This generates more tickets for the Zomber's team, earns them more points, and they get more silver lions for the TNT tonnage they drop.

The mentality is simply spawning in hordes going at same target, overwhelming defenses, eventually someone will get through. People were earning a LUDICROUS amount of silver lions for this, and honestly I can't blame them considering how stupid the economy in this game can be.

The issue used to be a LOT more prevalent back in the days when there was a bug that meant all TNT rewards were doubled for dropping bombs on airfields. Back then you had Zombers in Tier 3-6 games. Basically anything with a high enough bombload was a good source of income (Me264, Be-6, PE-8, B-29 etc). After the bug was fixed Zombers mostly dissapeared from Tier 3-4 games.

However. They are still very prevalent in high tier games. Why?

1. The premium A2D is battle rating 6.7 for sim, meaning you can fly it out as much as you like with no respawn timer and bomb the crap out of everything with its powerful ordnance payload. Its also fast.

2. Silver lion earnings seem to be (apparently) higher in top tier games for bombing, especially if you have premium account time and a premium vehicle.

3. In Tier 6 games, you have supersonic aircraft with bomb-loads. They can literally get across the map in under a minute, drop their bombs and escape the airfield defenses without a scratch. Due to their speed and numbers it is very difficult to out-pace the enemy team on tickets alone.

I'm working on a video where I actually break down the issues with top tier sim; the zombers, spawn points, airfield strafing etc. So hopefully my voice returns fully soon so that I can finish that one off :)

For now please enjoy some casual destruction!
