Orks was once Kroks that was made by the Old Ones to fight against the C'tan and the Necron over 60 ~ 65 Million years ago in a conflict known as the War in Heaven.
Long story short, after the war the krorks had no big things to fight and with the Eldars eradicating them from orbit, eventually they were devolved into the orks that we know today.
In the modern setting of 40k, the orks pretty much go where the conflicts happen. They thirst for combat and the more the conflicts rage on, more orks will come since they are driven by fighting and destruction.
Sometimes, an Ork Warboss will gather orks through his might and aura and once that happen, an ORK WAAAGH occurs.
Its where a horde of orks will launch to where there is gonna be a good fight
and go on a rampage until the Warboss dies or other faction stops them.
Orks are fungus based species and while not technologically advanced race, as long as they can get to the fight, that's what it all matters xD!
Dakka is an ork term for firepower and the sound of the gun fire.
