28Every nerd with grade 10 science knows that Deoxyribonueic Acid is DNA and that’s why Deoxys is the DNA Pokémon. But what if that’s only half the picture. Pokémon names often have double or even triple origins.
Squirtle is a turtle that squirts. But it also has the tail of squirrel.
Deoxy’s might also be named for Deoxygenated blood. This blood, also called venous blood often looks blue to our eyes because of a trick of the light. Basically our skin filters the colour. When you think of it that way the blue and reddish arms sort of look like veins.
On top of that it’s a Pokémon born and bred in an oxygenated free environment. Sure there’s a tiny bit of Oxygen ins space but not enough to be worth counting.
