Watch the video of the moment that led to Janones' suspension in the Chamber
💡 WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
🏛 ️ Congressional Power | The Chamber of Deputies' Ethics Committee suspended Congressman André Janones (Avante-MG) for three months this Tuesday (July 15, 2025). The decision is effective immediately. The congressman can appeal to the full House. The vote was 16 in favor and three against.
The lawsuit was filed by the leader of the PL in the Chamber, Sóstenes Cavalcante (RJ). Sóstenes had suggested suspending Janones for six months. The request came after, on July 9, the PSOL congressman interrupted his colleague Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), who was speaking from the podium in the main chamber of the Chamber, and uttered "outrageous insults, using vulgar, dishonorable, and derogatory expressions."
