In this video, we unbox a complete in-box Nintendo 64 and games lot we bought off of one of our former co-workers.

The N64 has a special place in my life. Prior to the N64, any video game system I had my parents had either bought for me or helped me pay for. The N64 was my first system I bought "as an adult". Ok, I was 19, but you get my point. Prior to buying one for myself, I worked at a RadioShack in a strip mall that had a Blockbuster in it. I would frequently stop off at that Blockbuster over my lunch to check out the Mario 64 Demo running on the kiosk.

20 years after it's initial release, and long after I had traded my original N64 in towards something else, I had once again bought an N64, Goldeneye, Star Fox 64, and began to rebuild my collection. And it was glorious, the jaggies, the blurriness, the anti-aliasing, the trident controller, all of it.

Since getting back into the N64, I've upgraded to better controllers from Retro Fighters and Retro-bit in the Brawler 64 & Tribute 64, RGB Modded my system with Voultar's RGB Mod Kit and paired it with HD Retrovision Cables & a RetroTink 2x. Overall, my N64 gameplay experience is vastly superior to my original experiences.

Going back to my experiences at RadioShack, I've maintained contact with friends I had from there over the years. One of my friends, Tim, messaged me, asking what an N64 is worth, as his step-son had one that he was looking to get rid of. Someone offered him $40 and he was considering accepting it. When I saw the photos of what he had, I told him to politely decline that offer and I would more than increase it if he would sell it to me. They talked it over and, after figuring out the shipping cost, a box arrived on my front porch. And it was glorious!

Inside the shipping box was a glorious piece of retro history. It was a complete Nintendo 64, and it was all there. All the poly bags all of the manuals, even the Nintendo Power subscription card, it was all here!! The styrofoam was in immaculate shape, as was the system itself and the controller. In addition to the system, two extra controllers were included with the lot. One, an EA Madden controller which, eh, needs some TLC and love. The second was a watermelon colored Nintendo OEM controller, and this thing was in amazing shape!

There were a number of games also included in with the lot, and a few that really excited me. Excitebike 64 and Tony Hawk's 2 were the 2 winners for me, but the entire lot was pretty nice. All appeared to be in great shape, minus the initials on the labels on the back of the cards.

I'm glad that I could help Tim and his step-son get a good deal for their system, and I'm glad to have this system in my collection. The only bummer to me was the fact that it had an NS2 serial number, meaning I couldn't use Voultar's RGB Mod kit on it. That's ok, maybe I'll one-day put an Ultra-HDMI mod kit inside, who knows. I am also disappointed that they were offered only $40 for such a great lot, and I am glad I could give them the heads up that what they had was worth considerably more. In the end, it's a win-win for everyone.
