"We have Impromptu at home" (Reverse: 1999 2.7)
Team: Flutterpage (R10 / P0), Thirty Seven (R10 + Aspirational / P1), Fatutu (R10 / P0), Assist Barcarola, Brimley (R10 / P4)
Despite being built as a (mediocre) Extra Action support, I've always wanted to see if Brimley would do okay in an Impromptu team.
One of Brimley's many issues is that he requires way too much AP for his gimmick. His Riding Double Buff has to reapplied often since it's not permanent, though at least his Buff is also a cleanse ("I need to cleanse but don't have Fatutu" is the main reason you're using him anyway). His Attack, however, only exists to activate Riding Double/his artificial FUA. You are never using it for the damage.
Brimley's Ultimate has a bit more utility: it debuffs DEF and can force an artificial FUA if the Buff is already applied on someone, though it's weird since it debuffs REALITY (and Brimley is a MENTAL character). It's also still not used for its damage. Brimley's ideal rotation is low key "just Buff when needed and if you build up too much Moxie, use the Ult to stop it clogging your hand".
Brimley does justify his existence a bit better in this 5-character mode, but as a Brimley main I honestly use him more as an aura farming unit rather than a serious support.
Now, despite not being designed for Impromptu at all, I feel like Brimley has some possible potential on the Impromptu team. He's not the best option, but I don't think he's the worst one either:
-Inspiration: the main thing I think about with Brimley on Impromptu teams. If big Inspiration numbers ends up on Brimley's cards, then you're not really wasting AP by playing his cards, unlike in Follow Up Teams.
-Riding Double: another problem with Brimley's Riding Double buff is that most characters don't have worthwhile skills at Rank 1. This isn't the case for Impromptu characters, rather than just generic "do damage" skills they all have unique effects. Impromptu also has Voyager, a character who can 'justify' the extra actions from Brimley because of her Refrain mechanic (which requires her to use 4 skills to activate Seal and Silence).
(I would also mention "Brimley can cleanse in a team that doesn't have any cleansers" but Kiperina just released this patch. I've been ruminating on this "Brimley in Impromptu team" idea for a while...)
All this to say that "I used Assist Barcarola with the Follow Up Team". It's obviously not anything like actually running Brimley on Impromptu, but damn it! it's the closest I'm gonna get with this account. Impromptu having the highest DPS at the end of the fight is proof that it's not just FUA (even if Flutterpage and Fatutu are really hard carrying this team).
I really wish I could train up my Matilda and Euphoria my Voyager, but I just don't have the resources.
