We Were Here is a series of cooperative first-person adventure video games developed by Total Mayhem Games in the Netherlands. The We Were Here games are puzzle-based cooperative first-person adventure games. Each game has two participants, each of whom plays a distinct role. They must solve problems together, usually while in separate rooms and unable to see one other. Each participant gets a walkie-talkie, which allows them to interact with one another and solve the problems.
The original We Were Here was created as a student project at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences by the Dutch company Total Mayhem Games. It was a student submission for the 2018 Independent Games Festival, and it received the Best Indie Game Award at the Indigo showcase in the Netherlands in 2017. In February 2017, it was made available for free on Steam. We Were Here is a free cooperative first-person puzzle video game released on Steam for PC on February 3, 2017 by Total Mayhem Games from the Netherlands. Two players assume the roles of Antarctic explorers who have got separated in Fortress Rock, an abandoned castle. They must communicate through walkie-talkies in order to solve riddles.
Lost and isolated amid a cold landscape, in an abandoned castle. Your only remaining item is a walkie-talkie, which is connected to a recognisable voice on the other end. Will you be able to find your way out in time?
