Here is a video guide on how to gain tons of levels in less than 10 minutes.

Set it to the highest difficulty. Choose Shingens Dojo level (the only Shingen level in the game). Make Mitsunari your tag partner and make sure he's using a weapon with the dark attribute so it makes his job easier. Next, place the specific items shown in the beginning of the video on each character before I change them (Changed them due to all my characters being all maxed out already). You should have the goggles/glasses (you get 50% more experience but your health gauge is hidden), big red cup/bowl (doubles the special rewards experience in the stage), and the double cups (if your tag partner has this on as well, it adds a +2.0 multiplier to your experience). Make sure you have the Hero Time BASARA Boost on (Slow-Motion Mode).

After all that, play the stage as shown above. Make sure to kill everybody with Mitsunari's R1 as that helps keep the combo going, and with his weapon having the dark attribute, it has a chance to instant kill small enemies to keep your kill count high in Hero Time Mode to extend the duration. You should be able to achieve max combo (99,999 hits) and 1000 enemies killed. As you fight all 5 Shingens, you will manage to break their guards a lot (this helps get the item to upgrade defense). You can do large parries if you want, as this helps upgrade your BASARA gauge. But it would destroy your flow, but doing it against all 5 Shingens works. This is the quickest way into leveling up your character and leveling up their weapon as well.
