10It was a time of farewells and future engagements at the Sanguine Sea. Several allies have now moved on, others still determining what to do next with their lives after Zyrian's defeat. The party, however, was focused on getting things ready for the Wedding and Bonding Ceremonies for Kayli. During preparations, Anoran discovered that Onyx was in possible danger due to the Wight that they ran into earlier on in Zidoria city.\n\nAs Anoran, Evelyn, and Akira set out directly to Zidoria, the rest of the party, along with Vhyx, went to the Ilmater temple to speak to Dr. Crowley once more. They soon discovered that Crowley was beginning to feel genuine regret, having originally set off to create powerful technology to help the world, only to fall victim to the lust for Power under Zidorian rule. Given few options, he chose to fully abandon his original self and go by the name Mr. X, a name that would be as empty as he was, all for the sake of continuing his life and his work, albeit as nothing more than a low-ranking official in the Consortium. As a sign of good faith, he revealed his theory on what Baikas wanted with the empty humanoid shells Crowley created for him, saying they are likely designed for a Soul transfer. As the party had one themselves, he gave them the means to help place Philimena inside one, giving her a body once again.\n\nAfterward, Vhyx admits that while she is able to admire his intelligence, there was literally nothing else, choosing not to forgive him for what he had done. But instead of wiping her hands clean of him forever, she convinced Lady V to assign Crowley to work directly under her for their first major project: The dismantling and repurposing of the Airship that Crowley was originally designing to overthrow Zyrian, using it's parts to go towards a new ship for the Pirates. Thus began the new lease on life for the Doctor, now merely known as X, an unknown at the consortium research and development team, now as Vhyx's underling.\n\nAt once, the party set off to Zidoria, meeting with Anoran and his group at the Cabaret, immediately setting off towards the Residential district where they discovered a hidden pathway that led to an abandoned set of tunnels beneath the city. At the end was the Wight, as expected, and Onyx appearing to be suspended above a murkey pool of water, currently inside a strange, magical cage.\n\nAfter fully dispatching the Wight thanks to the bright lights preventing him from using his shadow-based skills, Anoran found that the suspended Onyx was an illusion, the real one having been dropped into the murkey water before the party's arrival, on the verge of drowning.\n\nUpon her rescue, it was made aware that only she remained after her guards were killed in order to complete an artificial gate to the Shadowfell, though why she was spared when her guards were killed is still shrouded, unknown if she was also needed for the ritual, or for something else entirely.\n\nThe gate, mostly complete, was able to open, though nothing could pass through from either side, leaving it nothing more than a window. On the other side, the party met the Wight's companions: The calm and intelligent Edmund, the unhinged and violent Elriya, the loud and imposing Drachen, and odd and colorful Cronos. Claiming to be members of a group called the Banner of Veryc, they had no choice but to leave things as they are, though they left with one very powerful bit of knowledge.... Adray, the Wight, despite his failure at creating the gate, had found the one they were seeking...
