WedSNESday: Let's Play Sunset Riders (SNES)
Nothing says Cowboys like early Winter! Matt & Luke head out to the Wild West and get their big pink ponchos on to blast some bad hombres as everybody's favorite bearded badass, Cormano! The good: Luke is pretty good at getting to the boss. The bad: There are only lives to a continue, and when you continue, you start over from the beginning of the level. The ugly: The boss is ridiculous and Luke didn't figure out the sliding mechanic until it was far too late.
Sunset Riders is a classic side-scrolling arcade run 'n gun platformer released by Konami in 1991 on arcade, and brought to the SNES in 1993. It follows the story of 4 bounty hunters: Steve, Billy, Bob and Cormano as they blast their way through the wild west looking for mean hombres and nasty women. The SNES version is a somewhat faithful recreation of the original Arcade classic, though toned down a bit to accommodate Nintendo's "family friendly" iage. The boss battles are mean as hell and there aren't many credits to go around, but the game is hailed as a classic of Konami's stable of arcade games.
