Week 2 Lecture 2 - Lighting and Fog
"You need *emotional content*" -Bruce Lee
Lighting and Fog are two great ways of adding mood to a video game. Lights can also be used to highlight things you want to draw a player's attention to, and can be used to guide them without feeling like you're railroading them.
Volumetric Fog creates very nice looking fog, and can be combined with crepuscular rays to make very nice lighting and mood effects. There's a lot of options available, play with them until it looks right.
You can import new assets into UE4 in a variety of ways:
1) Using the green "import" button in the content browser
2) Dragging and dropping assets into the content browser
3) Right clicking on a folder in the content browser and opening up in Windows Explorer, and then putting the asset in there (UE4 will notice when you add a new asset, and you click import then)
4) Using the Marketplace to purchase (often for free) assets, and then you can use the library to download and add assets to your project.
