This is a How To guide to reproducing a bug, which magically makes all your Application window icons disappear. This bug exists since OSX Lion 10.7.0 (perhaps even earlier, never tested). Also exists in OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.0) and all patches to 10.8.1 (12B19) and all patches to 10.8.2 (12C54 and 12C60). The computer is an Apple Mac Mini (late 2009), but exists in all Macs. A "Click" is a quick click and release of the mouse button. A "Click Drag" is clicking down the mouse button, and while not releasing, drag it in a desired direction. I can't think of any extraordinary circumstances in the setup except maybe the "Application Window" has enough installed software icons that not all can fit inside it, and you can scroll up and down.
